Linwood Floyd named Director of Fiscal Services for the Maryland Insurance Administration

BALTIMORE – Maryland Insurance Commissioner Kathleen A. Birrane has named Linwood Floyd as Director of Fiscal Services for the Maryland Insurance Administration (MIA).

LinwoodFloydWEB.jpgFloyd comes to the MIA after more than 13 years with the Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT), where he was most recently Manager, Performance Management, for Baltimore-Washington Thurgood Marshall International Airport and Martin State Airport. Earlier in his career, he worked for several private sector employers in various audit, financial and administrative positions.

“Linwood has a long record as an exceptional steward of State resources,” Commissioner Birrane said. “With his talent and leadership skills, I’m confident he will be a true asset to the MIA.”

Among his career accomplishments, Floyd implemented various budget, accountability, and management compliance processes resulting in significant cost savings.  He also maintained, analyzed, and developed Key Performance Indicators (KPI), Balance Scorecard, and Strategic plan analyses.

Floyd will lead the 13-person Fiscal Services Unit, which is primarily responsible for accounting, budgeting, and procurement activities. The unit is responsible for ensuring compliance with all State and Federal fiscal and procurement requirements.

Floyd holds a B.S. degree in Accounting and Business Administration from Delaware State University and Master of Business Administration and Master of Science – Management Logistics degrees from Florida Institute of Technology.
