Commissioner Redmer to participate in national COVID-19 teleconference
BALTIMORE
- Maryland Insurance Commissioner Al Redmer, Jr., and senior leaders from the Maryland Insurance Administration (MIA) are scheduled to participate in a national teleconference of insurance regulators April 9 to discuss COVID-19-related issues states are facing.
The teleconference is organized by the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC), which is the U.S. standard-setting and regulatory support organization created and governed by the chief insurance regulators from the 50 states, the District of Columbia, and five U.S. territories. Commissioner Redmer is a member of two key NAIC policy committees for 2020 - the Health Insurance and Managed Care Committee and the Property and Casualty Insurance Committee.
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, insurance regulatory agencies across the country are taking
a multitude of actions
to protect consumers and provide guidance to insurance companies. To see a complete list of regulatory actions, notices, advisories and bulletins issued by the MIA, visit the
COVID-19 section of the MIA website
.
“The NAIC serves a crucial role in helping insurance commissioners across the country fulfill their duties,” Redmer said. “That becomes especially important in a time of crisis, when sharing good ideas and best practices is essential.”
Special Note: The Maryland Insurance Administration remains fully operational during the COVID-19 emergency. If you would like to file an insurance complaint, please use our online portal:
