Statement from Insurance Commissioner Al Redmer, Jr. on 2020 Open Enrollment

BALTIMORE - Maryland Insurance Commissioner Al Redmer, Jr. today issued the following statement on 2020 open enrollment:

"I am extremely pleased with the success of the 2020 open enrollment, and seeing the state's uninsured rate at the lowest ever. After years of devastating rate increases, it is certainly gratifying to see our individual market stabilize and to see more Marylanders signing up for coverage."

Under the leadership of Governor Larry Hogan, the Maryland Insurance Administration announced in September the second annual consecutive decrease in individual health insurance plans. In addition to approving the rates as regulator, Commissioner Redmer sits on the board of the Maryland Health Benefit Exchange.
