June is National Safety Month

State insurance regulators join National Safety Council and thousands of other organizations highlighting different safety topics each week in June

BALTIMORE — The Maryland Insurance Administration is joining with thousands of other organizations to promote National Safety Month resources to Maryland residents and business owners. Injuries now represent the number three cause of death for the first time in U.S. history. An American is accidently injured every second and killed every three minutes by a preventable event.
"Joining with the National Safety Council and other like-minded organizations, we are committed to educating small businesses and Maryland citizens on the importance of work and home safety topics,” said Commissioner Redmer. “There is a direct connection between reducing risks proactively and insuring against potential losses. The more educated that we all are on safety and the role of insurance, the better outcomes we can expect and the more we can mitigate risks.”
The specific safety topics to be highlighted on Insurance Administration social media channels during June include:
  • Week 1: Hazard Recognition
  • Week 2: Slips, Trips and Falls
  • Week 3: Fatigue
  • Week 4: Impairment
