Maryland is joining eleven other states in the initiative, including Arizona, California, Iowa, Illinois, Missouri, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, Utah, and Wyoming. This move is a part of a greater effort to welcome veterans to do business in the Maryland insurance industry.
“We are pleased to be able to offer our veterans access to this benefit,” said Commissioner Redmer. “We know that this effort will allow veterans to become licensed producers and be able to keep up with the ongoing continuing education requirements associated with the profession.”
“In keeping with our promise to ensure Maryland veterans have access to state benefits, we look forward to supporting the Maryland Insurance Administration as they launch this new program,” said Maryland Department of Veterans Affairs Secretary George W. Owings, III. “This program will provide exciting career opportunities in the insurance industry for those who have honorably served in our US Armed Forces.”
In order to qualify for the reimbursement, veterans must be eligible for benefits, have remaining entitlement to benefits, and their delimiting date must not have passed. The Department of Veteran Affairs is able to pay the cost of tests that are not passed, those that are retaken after not being passed, and those that are required to be recertified or to renew a license.
