****Effective October 1, 2024, applicants who are required to pass an examination for a producer license will no longer be required to complete a program of study that has been approved by the Commissioner. The Producer Licensing unit is part of Compliance and Enforcement and oversees licensing for individuals and business entities engaged in insurance transactions.  The unit is responsible for ensuring that licensees and registrants are in compliance with licensing laws and regulations related to initial licensing/registration and renewal of existing qualifications.

Consistent with the Governor's Customer Service Promise, the Maryland Insurance Administration is committed to ensuring that producers have access to information and resources to assist with all aspects of the licensing and renewal application process.

If you need further assistance, representatives from the MIA are available Monday through Friday from 8:00 - 5:00 to answer any questions by phone at (410) 468-2411.  Moreover, we can be reached by email at producerlicensing.mia@maryland.gov
