RE: Producer Appointment Termination for Cause Notifications
The Maryland Insurance Administration (“the Administration") issues this bulletin to inform all insurers conducting business in Maryland how to submit notifications to the Administration when a producer's appointment is terminated “for cause."
Section 10-118(e)(1)(ii) of the Insurance Article, Annotated Code of Maryland (2017 Repl. Vol.), requires an insurer or an authorized representative of an insurer to notify the Commissioner of the termination of a producer's appointment with the insurer when the termination, in whole or in part, is a result of the belief that the producer has engaged or is engaging in any of the activities set forth in §10-126 of the Insurance Article.
Insurers may use one of the following two methods to make the required notification to the Commissioner:
- Complete the online form located at: https://marylandinsurance.my.site.com/regulations/s/enforcement-intake?language=en_US . This link allows the insurer to submit the notification and any supporting documents directly to the Maryland Insurance Administration's case management system; or
- The notification and all supporting documents can be emailed to [email protected].
Questions about this bulletin may be directed to Jeff Gross, Chief of Licensing Compliance at mail to: Jeff Gross, Chief of Licensing Compliance at mail to: [email protected].
