Insurance Careers

Education and Workforce Initiative

The insurance industry employs 2.2 million people nationally, with 400,000 new jobs expected by 2028. Multiple analysts predict a shortage of insurance industry professionals in the near future.

New demands and recruiting challenges make some roles hard to fill, but educational efforts, outreach programs, high-school career pathways, apprenticeships, sponsorships and other strategies can and do make a difference.

In 2018, the Maryland Insurance Administration created an Education and Workforce Initiative, facilitating pathways to link talent of all levels with the insurance industry, which offers stable, well-paid careers.
