In accordance with Title 8, Subtitle 5 of the Insurance Article, Annotated Code of Maryland, companies or individuals desiring to be licensed as Reinsurance Intermediaries are required to file with the Maryland Insurance Administration the following using our NEW online portal:
- Reinsurance Intermediary Application.
- An appointment of the Commissioner as agent for the acceptance of service of process.
- Application fee of $25 (non-refundable) made payable to the Maryland Insurance Administration.
To gain access to the portal please complete the online for NEW entities only.
Each license will expire on the first July after its effective date and in an odd-numbered year.
Once licensed, parties acting as reinsurance intermediaries are required to apply bi-annually to renew their license by submitting the following usine our NEW online portal:
Filings and fees must be received on or before June 30 for bi-annual renewal.
Application estimated verification time: two to five business days.
Application estimated application determination time: 14 to 30 days.
Estimated length of time to complete application: varies based on size and complexity.
