Financial Regulation Division

Responsible for the financial regulation of domestic and foreign insurance companies, including financial analyses and examinations of licensed companies and applicants for company licensing. The analyses and examinations are conducted primarily to ensure that companies are solvent and are in compliance with Maryland's insurance laws and regulations. The division is also responsible for the collection of surplus lines taxes.
