Former Bail Bondsman Lovrico Johnson, Sr. Arrested

Repeat offender captured by state and local law enforcement

BALTIMORE – The Maryland Insurance Administration announced today that former bail bondsman Lovrico Johnson, Sr. has been arrested by law enforcement and placed into the custody of Baltimore County. Johnson had committed fraud by selling bonds without a license.

Numerous complaints have been filed with the Insurance Administration regarding Johnson’s marketing practices of soliciting bail bond business and collecting payments, despite a revoked license. Johnson operated Hard Knocks Bail Bonds, Hard Knocks Bail Bonds, Co., and AAAA U Got Bail, Bail Bonds – all of which were cited for violation of Maryland’s insurance laws.

“State and local law enforcement are to be commended for the work they have done with our team of investigators to apprehend Mr. Johnson,” said Commissioner Al Redmer, Jr. “Rigorous enforcement of all insurance statutes and regulations assure that those who comply with the law are not disadvantaged by those who evade compliance. Today’s arrest represents a concerted effort to enforce the law.”

The Insurance Administration revoked Johnson’s license in August 2012 after it was discovered he had lied about criminal convictions on his license application, which is a violation of State law, and after investigations into multiple complaints determined he owed in excess of $30,000 in restitution to clients. Hard Knocks Bail Bonds, Hard Knocks Bail Bonds Co., and AAAA U Got Bail Bail Bonds, all had their licenses revoked in 2014 for violations of the state’s insurance laws. The complaints originated in Anne Arundel County, Baltimore County, Prince George’s and Frederick counties.
