READ THE MIA'S CONSUMER ADVISORIES HERE
The Maryland Insurance Administration (MIA) regulates insurance in the State of Maryland.
- We answer questions about different types of insurance. For example, you may want to learn more about health, automobile, renters, homeowners, life, or long-term care insurance.
- We can explain your rights and suggest ways to work out problems with your insurance company.
- We can investigate a company to see if it violated state insurance laws or rules. For example, we can investigate whether the company did what it said it would do in its contract with you.
The primary role of the MIA is to protect consumers from illegal insurance practices by ensuring that insurers and producers that operate in Maryland act in accordance with State insurance laws. We are here to assist you with your insurance inquiry or complaint about a health, life, auto or homeowners insurance policy. Additionally, we are here to assist you if you have a complaint involving an insurance producer, public adjuster or adviser.
