The Maryland Insurance Administration (MIA) has compiled resources to help you understand and manage your risk against a cybersecurity attack.

The MIA​ held a virtual event Cybersecurity for Businesses: Managing Your Risk​ with expert panelists from the Maryland State Police and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Maryland Department of Commerce, the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC) and the insurance industry.​ Please view the video to the right or click here.

​Tips for Small Business Owners

  • Secure your Wi-Fi networks.
  • Make backup copies of important business data and information.
  • Protect information, computers and networks from cyber attacks.
  • Train employees in security principles.
  • Limit employee access to information data and software they need.
  • Require employees to change passwords at least every three months.​
