In 2025, the Maryland General Assembly passed HB 995/SB 776, requiring the Maryland Insurance Administration (“MIA”) and the Health Service Cost Review Commission (“HSCRC”) to jointly staff a workgroup to study the rise in adverse decisions in the state health care system (the “Workgroup to Study the Rise in Adverse Decisions” or the “Workgroup”). The Workgroup to Study the Rise in Adverse Decisions announces an initial upcoming virtual meeting on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, 2:00 pm – 3:30 pm, where the Workgroup will introduce its members, discuss the Workgroup’s submission to the Senate Finance and House Health and Government Operations Committees for 2025, and discuss a request to extend the Workgroup into 2026. An agenda will be released before the meeting.
If you would like to offer public comments during the virtual meeting, should time allow, following the Workgroup’s discussion, please notify the MIA in advance of the meeting by submitting your request to
[email protected]. Because of the nature of the Zoom Events platform, a special invitation is required to be seen and/or heard via the platform. For that reason, the MIA can only assure the opportunity to speak during the virtual public meeting to those interested parties who have signed up by
Monday, November 17, 2025, and provided an e-mail address to which an invitational link to the virtual meeting can be sent.
